Jim Alan Long

Mr. Jim Alan Long, 73, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025, at home. Mr. Long was born on July 24, 1951, to the late Francis and Louise Long. He graduated from Parkland High School. He served his country in the National Guard. Mr. Long was a member of Faith Church of Midway.

Jim was very creative and mechanically inclined. This started on the farm when he was a young man. He totally enjoyed redesigning vehicles in his own vision. He could make a 4 door car a 2 door car or a front-wheel drive car into a three-wheel motorcycle.

Jim was preceded in death by his brother Daniel R. Long. Survivors are his wife of 35 years, Connie Winfrey Long; sister Mary Mendenhall (Jerry); and sister-in-law Brenda Long. Mr. and Mrs. Long had four children: Aaron Long (Susan); Mandy Blalock (Preston); Meredith Ellis (Norman); Jessica Stewart (Daryl Baltes). There are nine grandchildren: Dustin Long (Katelyn); Christian Morrissey (Star Thompson); Emma Long; Mason Beshears (Sophia Bergen); Gavin Ellis; Asia Short (Rod); Zack Ellis; J.P. Blalock; Leah Riggan (Joe). Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Landon, Caden, Grace, Chloe, and Callie. We have received much love from all of these people; as well as our extended family and church family.

A service honoring Mr. Long’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 18th, 2025, at 4 pm at Faith Church in Midway 1078 Gumtree Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27107, with Pastor Keith Brock and Pastor Steve Gilreath officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-4 at the church prior to the service.
