Jim Mock

James Franklin “Jim” Mock, Sr., 80, of Lexington passed away on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, at Summit Place of Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 pm on Friday, May 6, 2022, in the Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with Rev. Dr. Nancy Jo Dederer officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Mr. Mock was born in Cabarrus County on January 29, 1942, to Dr. David Carlton Mock and Elsie Wilkinson Mock. Mr. Mock was a veteran of the Air Force serving his time on U.S. Air Force Bases in Turkey from 1964-68. He obtained his B.A. degree from Syracuse University in Russian Studies. He later obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from Syracuse University. Mr. Mock had an extensive career in practicing law as he had a private practice for over 20 years and further served as Davidson County’s County Attorney for sixteen (16) years, prosecuted cases as an Assistant District Attorney in the 22nd Judicial District, and served as the Alexander County DSS Attorney for eleven (11) years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim Mock loved spending time with his family, hiking in the mountains, playing golf and tennis, telling a good story or joke, and over-indulging in ice cream. His great smile and incredibly kind spirit will be missed. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Mary “Ginger” White Mock; his son, James “Franklin” Mock, II and wife Laura; two sisters, Renni Mock Mickle and husband Steve, and Jenni Mock Sparrow and husband Larry; two grandchildren, Samuel Jacob Mock and Benjamin Robert Mock; two nieces, Gayla Reece and Grace Johnston, and brother-in-law, Joe White and wife Marilyn.
