James “Jimmy” E. Leonard, 74, of Hampton Street, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at the home of his son in Salisbury.
A graveside service will follow the visitation Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Psalm 91 Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Max Shoaf. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at their respective homes.
Mr. Leonard was born November 2, 1939, in Davidson County, to Grady Edward Leonard and Sarah Mahala Leonard. He retired from the North Carolina National Guard, Co E 130th Aviation, Salisbury; and was retired from PPG Industries. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Kaye Weaver Leonard; a son, Jimmy Leonard; and grandson, A.J. Blanton Jr.
Surviving are children, Jay Leonard and wife Angie of Salisbury, Jody Shaw of Lexington, Kimberly Leonard Flippen and husband Sammy of Denton, Deborah Medford and husband Ricky of Sophia and Tish Blanton and husband Adam of Lexington; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Hill, Krista Leonard, Jessica Beck, Samuel Flippen, Stephen Flippen, Hannah Flippen, Caleb Fellers, Nick Fellers, Kaitlyne Leonard, Breanna Leonard, Mason Leonard and Tori Blanton; 12 great-grandchildren; and brother, Ed “Peanut” Leonard and wife Ginger.
