Advance

Mr. Jimmy Lowell Everhardt, 88, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026, in Davie County.

Born on January 8, 1938, in Rowan County, Jimmy was the son of the late Samuel Lowell Everhardt and Duette Trexler Everhardt.

Jimmy was a self-made man whose life was defined by hard work and dedication to his family. He was widely admired for his strong work ethic. Above all, Jimmy cherished his family, especially his beloved wife, Barbara, whose love brought him great joy.

Music was one of Jimmy's greatest passions throughout his life. He served as choir director at Arcadia Methodist Church and later found great joy singing in the choir at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, where he was a devoted member. In his younger years, he also enjoyed sharing his love of music as a member of the Lexington Men of Song.

Jimmy also was an avid reader who enjoyed books of every genre, although mystery novels always held a special place on his bookshelf. He also treasured the time spent playing poker and card games with friends, creating memories filled with laughter and fellowship.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his first wife of 52 years, Yvonne Byerly Everhardt.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Barbara Briggs Everhardt; his son, Randy Everhardt (Luann); his daughter, Trina Cunningham (Richard); his stepdaughters, Donna Logan (Matthew) and Sarah Blankenship; his half-sister, Julie Jayne (Bill) of Kentucky; his five adored grandchildren, Mandy Bogdanoff (Aron), Anderson Cunningham (Ashley), Cambridge Wrege (Brad), Chandler Cunningham, and Alexandra Cunningham; three step-grandchildren: Brynlee, Ella, and Nash Logan; seven great-grandchildren; and several cousins.
