Jimmy Lee Hines Sr., 74, of Lexington, died Monday, May 4, 2009, at Alston Brook Nursing Center after several years of declining health.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Rev. Jay Belk. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Hines was born March 13, 1935, in Davidson County to William Howard and Velna Burkhart Hines. He was a graduate of Davis-Townsend High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of St. Timothy's United Methodist Church. He worked in the furniture industry for more than 50 years, with United Furniture Co., later Burlington Furniture, and Lexington Furniture Industries. His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Joyce Lytle Hines, whom he married Aug. 8, 1959, of the home; his son, Jimmy Hines Jr. and his wife, Shelby, of Lexington; his daughter, Lisa Hines Callahan and her husband, Brian, of Winterville; his grandsons, Jack Hines and Cameron Callahan; his granddaughter, Kate Callahan; his brother, Vanhoy Hines and his wife, Margie; and his sisters, Betty Varner and Barbara Owen and her husband, Bill.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Thursday prior to the funeral service.
