Jimmy Earl Koonts

Jimmy Earl Koonts,  65, Of Lexington, NC passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Health, Winston-Salem, NC.     A Celebration of life is planned for Sunday, July 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Union Grove Baptist Church with Pastors, Ken Harris and T. W. Bailey officiating the service.   The family will receive friends and family from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel, and other times at The Benson Home.   Mr. Koonts was born December 3, 1952 in Davidson County to Charlie and Bessie Perryman Koonts. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents.   Jimmy honorably served his country during the Vietnam War, and was stationed in Germany. He came to know the Lord in 1974 and served His Lord in various capacities including teen ministries, mission trips, prison ministry and choir. He loved taking trips with his family and making memories together. He was our entertainer, our planner and the life of all of our trips.   Surviving is his wife, Susan Lynn Everhart Koonts, of the home; Daughter, Christy Benson, her husband Scott, and their children: Emma, Maelynn, Elise and Sadie of Lexington; Daughter, Amanda Phelps, her husband Kyle, and their children Logan Koonts and Reid of Lexington; Brother, Charlie Koonts, Jr. of Lexington; Sisters, Brenda Potts and Pheba Hall both of Lexington.
