Jimmy D. Reid, a lifelong resident of Lexington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on Monday, April 19, 1948, Jimmy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation on Friday, March 7, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Davidson Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating Jimmy's life will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Holloways Baptist Church, with Revs. Glen Gunter and Craig Barnhill officiating, Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
After proudly serving his country in the United States Army, Jimmy dedicated his career to PPG Industries as a valued member of the maintenance team. His dedication and work ethic were admired by colleagues and friends alike.
As a committed member of his community, Jimmy was active in the Holloways Baptist Church where he found fellowship and spiritual support. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, inspiring those around him with his kindness and humility.
Jimmy is lovingly survived by his wife of 57 years, Sylvia Tester Reid, of Lexington, NC. He was a caring father to his son Russell Reid and his wife, Susan, and cherished father to his daughter Angie Michael and her husband, Buddy. A proud grandfather, he leaves behind Cody Michael and his wife, Taylor, Carmen Winebarger and her husband, Garrett, Gavin Reid, and Ella Reid. His legacy extends to his dear great-grandchildren: Easton, Emerson, and Ellison.
He was welcomed into eternal rest by his parents, whose love and values he carried throughout his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Davidson County or Holloways Baptist Church in memory of Jimmy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Davidson Funeral Home, who have reflected Jimmy’s dignity and grace throughout this process. Jimmy will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
