Jimmy Noel Rogers

Jimmy Noel Rogers, 77, of Tyro, died December 26, 2012, following a brief illness. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012, at Tyro United Methodist Church Chapel with the Rev. Randy Foster officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the church chapel. Mr. Rogers was born May 25, 1935, to Wade and Ila Rodgers. Jimmy served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Lexington Furniture Industries, Young-Hinkle plant in 1997. A master gardener, Jimmy grew a vast assortment of vegetables and flowers, bestowing his harvest on neighbors and family. He also had a great talent for woodworking and was an avid reader. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Leigh Anne Rogers Thomas. Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Helen Gobble Rogers; son, Eric Rogers and wife, Leiann, of Lexington; daughters, Terri Smith and husband, Mike, of Santa Maria, Ca., Jennifer Buck and husband, Rex, of Greensboro; son-in-law, Headen Thomas of Fort Mill, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Danielle Rogers Felske and husband, Paul, Devan Rogers, Cory Smith, Casey Smith, Kyle Smith, Ian Isenhour; Virginia Buck, Caroline Buck and William Buck. He is also survived by a brother, Buddy Rodgers and wife, Louise, of Lexington; and sister, Jean Leonard and husband, Bobby, of Monroe. Memorials may be made to Tyro United Methodist Church, 4484 S.
