Jimmy Lee Yates, 68, of N.C. Highway 47, died Wednesday, May 07, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Revs. Eric Disher and Charles Dickens.
Mr. Yates was born May 31, 1939, in Davidson County, to Herman Yates and Mattie Campbell Yates. He was a retired brick mason with RY Masonry. He attended Lexington Community Church; was an avid bowler, hunter and fisherman. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita Brooks Yates of the home; a son, Jimmy Randall Yates and wife, Doris, of Lexington; daughters, Traci Dickens and husband, Greg, of Lexington, and Tammi Yates and Donald, of Thomasville; five grandchildren, Oran, Jacob, Daniel, Kaylee and Katlyn; two step-grandchildren, J.D. and Lori; four step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Yates and wife, Cheri, and Robert Yates and wife, Gail, all of Lexington; and special lifetime friend, Stan Lanning and wife, Barbara.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 at the funeral home, prior to the service on Friday, and other times at the home of Ronald and Cheri, 133 Joes Beach Blvd., Lexington, NC.
