Due to the current pandemic, there will be a public graveside service held at Bethel Cemetery, South NC Hwy 150 in Tyro Wednesday, June 17 th at 11:00 AM with Rev. Randy Foster officiating.

J o was born October 21, 1935 to Coy & Mildred Michael and was a native of Lexington, NC.

She graduated from Reeds High School where she met her husband, Gene.  After receiving her degree from Charlotte Memorial Hospital School of Radiology, they married in April, 1955.  Their entire marriage of 59 years would be spent in the Tyro area where they built a home and raised their family until Gene's passing in 2014.

Jo worked as the first X-ray Technician at Lexington Memorial under Dr. Andrew. She later worked at Center Street X-ray Department for 33 years under Drs. Bingham, Strader & Team. Jo also enjoyed working part time at National Wholesale for 16 years.  As a member of Reeds Baptist Church, she was actively involved in missions, choir and teaching Sunday school. She and Gene traveled to several foreign countries where they served as team members for the Southern Baptist Association to assist in the building of local churches.  Jo's hobbies included sewing, gardening, cooking, crocheting and playing the piano. For years Jo directed many weddings in the Lexington area.  As a grandparent, she spent countless hours doting on her grandchildren and teaching them many important life skills. The time she spent with them was a priceless gift and is forever captured in their favorite memories. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.

Surviving are her children: Tonya Ragan (husband Tim) & Vicki Clarkson (husband David) grandchildren: Jared Everhart; Kathryn Jackson (husband Davin); Josh Clarkson and Daniel Everhart; great-grandchildren: Finn Everhart, Wells Everhart
