Josephine “Jo” Kearns Hedrick, 80, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022, at her home.
Jo was born September 16, 1941, in Davidson County to the late Clarence Adam Kearns and Flora Belle Shoemaker Kearns. Jo was the quintessential mother, not only raising her five children, but also their friends and anyone else who happened to be at her home at any given moment. She was quick witted, funny, and known to be a social butterfly. Jo worked hard to care for her family. She ran her salon “Styles by Jo,” out of her home, working as a beautician for many years before working at Curves for Women in Thomasville. Jo was a faithful servant to her Lord and was a member of Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time by the ocean and tending to her plants. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Winfred Hedrick; a grandson, Jerry Lee Williams; one brother, Jimmy Kearns; and three sisters, Ruby Goble, Janie Kearns, Sarah Wetherbee.
A memorial service will be held 7:00 pm Wednesday, June 15 at Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Jeff Walser. Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington is assisting the family.
Surviving are four sons, Larry Hedrick (Tina) of Greenbriar, Arkansas, James Hedrick (Christy) of Kernersville, Thomas Hedrick (Jen) of Kannapolis, and Mike Hedrick (Isabel) of King George, VA; one daughter, Lisa Brown of Rockledge, Florida; one brother, Richard Kearns (Anna) of Lexington; thirteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
