Tina Jo Teague Swing, 79, of Country Club Blvd, died Tuesday, February 28 at Hinkle Hospice House. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, March 4 at First United Methodist Church, by the Revs. Jamie Armstrong and Doug Rowe. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Swing was born March 28, 1937 in Asheville, NC to Ralph T. Teague and Ann Latture Teague. She had worked in administration for many years and was an active volunteer in her community. She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Adult Fellowship Class and Prayer Shawl Ministry. She was a member and past-president of Lexington Civitan Club, where she was involved with Special Olympics. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister that will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and two special people in her life, Lillian and Jimmy Rogers, formerly of Bristol, TN. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Larry G. Swing of the home; her daughter, Karen (Libby) Swing Gardner and husband, H.T., of Henderson; her grandson, Zachary (Zac) Gardner of Greenville, NC; her brother, Tag Teague and wife, Doris, of Monroe; and her nephews, Chuck Teague and Brian Helms, both of Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292 or to First United Methodist Church, 310 S. Main Street, Lexington NC 27292. The family would like to thank the staff of Hinkle Hospice House for their loving care and support over the last month.
