Joan Custer Storm, 73, of High Rock Lake, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by Father Albert J. Gondek. Burial will be in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.
Mrs. Custer was born June 24, 1933, in Philadelphia to Charles W. Custer Jr. and Grace Hannon Custer. She was a retired school teacher, having served in the White Plains, N.Y., Public School System. Mrs. Custer was a member of the Red Velvet Cupcakes chapter of the Red Hat Society, Christian Women's Club and the Tuesday Lunch Bunch. She was a former member of Home Extension Club, participated in the Christmas Candlelight Service and High Rock Women's Investment Club, and was active in the Senior Chorus. Mrs. Custer was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Storm.
Surviving are two nephews, Paul J. Custer of Swarthmore, Pa., and Charles W. Custer IV of Croydon, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Rita M. Custer of Levittown, Pa.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.
