Joan Brown Davis

Joan Yvonne Brown Davis, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the age of 77.

Joan was born on December 11, 1947, to James Whitfield Brown and Ruby Hale Brown, in Rockingham County. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and sister, Julia, and her beloved husband, Thomas Eugene Davis.

Joan attended Piedmont Bible College and received her degree in Elementary Education. She taught at several Christian schools in the area and enjoyed her time teaching her students. She also was an amazing pianist. She played at Gospel Light Baptist Church for many years, where she met her husband, Gene Davis. Shortly after they married, he was called to be the pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Lexington, where they served faithfully until their deaths.

Her children and grandchildren were her heartbeat and brought her much joy and happiness. She spent endless hours outside with her grandchildren, making wonderful memories together. She loved being outdoors tending to her flowers and keeping busy. She loved the Lord and was faithful to serve Him throughout the years of her life.

Joan is survived by her loving sons, Ron Davis (Kim) of Ashburn, VA; Seth Davis (Amber) of Belews Creek; Nathan Davis (Kaela) of Charlotte; John Davis (Bre) of Lexington; her four grandchildren: Greyson Davis (Rese), Alexa Combs (Matt), Ashlyn Davis, Briella Davis, and a great-grandson, Walker Davis, all of whom held a special place in her heart. Joan also leaves behind her brother, Larry (Rhonda) of Iowa, many nieces and nephews, and countless special friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Davidson Funeral Home. A service honoring her life will be held 2 PM Friday, April 25, 2025, at Gospel Light Baptist Church, 890 Walkertown Guthrie Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 with Dr. Larry Brown and Pastor Jimmy Causey officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service. Committal will follow in the church cemetery.
