Joan Poag Forrest, 91, of Davidson County, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024.
A funeral will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Center Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Alexander and Pastor Lamar Moore officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.
Burial will directly follow the service Thursday at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Joan was born on August 25, 1932, in Rowan County, to the late Joe Barber Poag and Notie Gobble Poag. She retired from Duracell after having worked there for 28 years. She was an active member of Center Hill Baptist Church and taught Sunday School there for many years.
Joan loved sewing, crocheting, needlepoint with plastic canvas, and making baby blankets. She enjoyed working with her hands and was known to make beautiful, knitted creations.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by and now reunited with her husband, James Edwin Forrest; and sisters, Evelyn Miller, Dot Stellar, Mary Long, Marie Swicegood, and Sue Hilliard
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Randy (Brenda) Forrest, of Lexington, and Danny (Pam) Forrest, of Lexington; daughter, Diane (Lynn) McCarn, of Lexington; brother, Tommy Poag, of Lexington; grandchildren, Jody McCarn (Tyler Hollifield), Natalie (Joseph) Haire, Misty (Scotty) Pullum, Amanda (Tony) Cook, Josh (Heather) Forrest, and Jamie (Alan) Aufderhar; great-grandchildren, Kayla (Jaycob) Grubb, Karsyn Haire, Caleb Pullum, Autumn Pullum, Stetson Cook, Caleigh Cook, Emory Forrest, Ethan Forrest, Bella Forrest, Jordan (Ashton) Shepler, and Trace Aufderhar; and close friend, Wanda Frank.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to everyone at Pine Acres Retirement Home for their care and support over the last year.
