Joan Bruff Louya

Joan Louya, 87, Old Salisbury Road in Lexington, passed away Saturday December 23, 2023 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, January 5, 2024, at Meadowview Reformed Presbyterian Church, with Pastor George Sayour and Pastor Billy Louya officiating services. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel and other times at the home of the daughter at 643 Louya Road in Lexington.

Mrs. Louya was born January 30, 1936 in Davidson County to Lewis Bruff and Daphne Mae Lanning Bruff. Joan enjoyed reading, circle word puzzles, cooking, and bird watching, she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack Bryce Louya, a son Greg Louya, a daughter, Teresa Louya and a brother, Lewis “Buddy” Bruff; and a sister Bonnie Ashby.

Surviving is two sons, Jackie Louya (Christine) of Lexington and Tim Louya of Mooresville; one daughter, Donna Swicegood (Eddie) of Lexington; two sisters, Sarah Hunt of Lexington and Betty Mae Thompson of Lexington; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchild.
