Joan Koonts Michael

Mrs. Joan Koonts Michael, 81, of Rockway Drive, died Sunday, March 1 at Alston Brook Nursing Center.    A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday, March 4 at Paul’s Chapel United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Dr. Dave Ambroso officiating.  Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.    Mrs. Michael was born September 17, 1927 in Davidson County to Charlie Conard Koonts and Mildred Yates Koonts.  She was a graduate of Ashemore Business College and worked as a junior accountant for Walter Fulp, CPA and Leslie Wooten, CPA.  She was a charter member of Paul’s Chapel United Church of Christ.  At her church, Mrs. Michael was a member of the Ladies Bible Class, a lifetime member of the Ladies Guild, taught Sunday School in the Children’s Department and served as a Deacon and on the Consistory. She was also married in the first service at Paul’s Chapel on September 7, 1947.  Her brother, Huitt Koonts, preceded her in death.    She is survived by her husband, Hoy Lee Michael of the home; her son, David Charles Michael of Lexington; her daughter, LeeAnn Alvarez and her husband, Jesus, of Lexington; her brother, Larry Gilbert Koonts and his wife, Nancy of Winston Salem; her sister, Sue Koonts Nance and her husband, Forrest, of Lexington; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.    The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.    Memorials may be made to Paul’s Chapel United Church of Christ, General Fund,  2791 W.
