Joan Patricia Owings Reams, 74, of Lexington, died Monday, September 01, 2014, at her home following a five year illness.
The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014, at Grace Alliance Church, where she was a member, with the Pastor Richard Barker, Dr. Ron Wellner and Rev. Jack Stoner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service.
Mrs. Reams was born October 17, 1939, in Wilkes County, to Glenn Owings and Bonnie Owings. She was a graduate of West Wilkes High School in Wilkes County and formerly employed with National Wholesale as a buyer. Her parents preceded her in death.
Surviving are her loving husband of 53 years Carl Reams of the home; son, Dean Reams and wife Missy of Lexington; daughter, Patty Gobble and husband Randy of Lexington; grandchildren, Benji Gobble and wife Brittany, and Jennifer Gobble, both of Lexington; great-grandson, Xavier Gobble; brothers, G.B. Owings and wife Linda of Jonesville and Gene Owings and wife Sue of North Wilksboro; and sisters, Helen Goforth and husband Allie of Millers Creek, Frances Goforth and husband Milton of Ferguson, Betty Owens and June Adams and husband Larry both of North Wilkesboro.
