Joan Irene Smith, 62, of Early James Road, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. Bill Bauguess.
Mrs. Smith was born June 10, 1944, in Rowan County to Baxter Bill Gobble and Lorrine Betsy Mae Cope Gobble. She was an employee of Lexington Furniture and a member of Tyro Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Kenneth Gobble and Jim Gobble.
Surviving are her husband, Richard F. Smith of the home; three sons, Wayne Smith and his wife, Tina, Jim Smith and his wife, Mary, and Johnny Smith and his wife, Cathy, all of Lexington; four grandchildren, Stacey Smith, Tiffany Smith, Johnathan Smith and Dylan Smith; six stepgrandchildren, Chris Mishale, Jeff Mishale, Michael Crump, Brandon Crump, Lisa Hutchins and Debbie Sizemore; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; five brothers, Randy Gobble and his wife, Hazel, and Tom Gobble and his wife, Phyllis, all of Salisbury, J.W. Gobble and his wife, Dianne, of Rockwell, Gene Gobble and his wife, Reba, of Reedy Creek and Mike Smith and his wife, Angie, of Locust; and two sisters, Janet Myers and her husband, Larry, of China Grove and Peggy Tiddle and her husband, Don, of Bristol, Tenn.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington and other times at the home.
