Joan Alkire Wagner

Joan Alkire “Nana” Wagner 82 of Lexington, NC passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Alston Brook Nursing Home.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Newsome officiating.   A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.   Joan was born in Parkersburg, WVA to the late Harley Oliver Alkire and Valta Haynes Alkire.  She retired from Fairfax County, VA Water Authority.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and  Gene Alkire; two sisters, Eleanor Johnson and Loretta Johnson.   Surviving is a son, Rigg Wagner (Susan) from VA; a daughter, Dawn Gallazzi (Robert) from Lexington, NC; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.   Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association, 301 N. Elm St., Greensboro, NC  27402.   Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Road is assisting the family.
