Joanie Lynn Pegram Ferris, 50, of Old Mill Farm Road, went home to be with her Saviour Friday, July 14, 2006, at her home after a two-year illness.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Reedy Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Egbert Craven. Burial will follow in Good Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Ferris was born Jan. 22, 1956, to Joe Arvel Pegram and Juanita Mae Preston. She worked for Scan Sort as a group leader. At her church, she was a member of the Ladies Fellowship, was a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and taught children's church.
Surviving are her husband, Barry Ray Ferris of the home; one son, Michael Shumate and his wife, Mandy, of Lexington; one daughter, Tina Turbyfill and her husband, Steve, of Lexington; her mother of King; four brothers, Joe Pegram Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Walnut Cove and Scott, Greg and Keith Pegram, all of King; three sisters, Pamela Pegram Brewer and her husband, Bobby, and Deborah Pegram Laws and her husband, Robert, all of Winston-Salem and Dawn Pegram Hill and her husband, Tony, of Pinnacle; two grandchildren, Krislyn Rae Turbyfill and Owen Bradley Turbyfill; her mother-in-law, Mary Jane Zimmerman Ferris of Lexington; 15 nieces and nephews; and two great-nieces.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, and other times at the home.
