JoAnn Louya Cross, 67, of NC Highway 8, died Friday, October 14, 2011, at Forsyth Medical Center.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Macedonia United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with Rev. Randy Blanton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
Mrs. Cross was born May 27, 1944, in Davidson County, to Dink Peacock Louya and Irene Lippard Louya. She was a retired supervisor at TI Industries. She was an active member of her church, serving in many different capacities including a member of the Women’s group. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Cross, who died September 29, 2010; and a grandson, Clinton David Leonard; brothers, Buddy Louya, Johnny Louya, and Dave Thompson; and sisters, Montise Gibson and Estelle Thompson.
Surviving are her loving husband, John A. Cross of the home; daughters, Sandi Tongel and husband, Nathan, of Southmont and Tammy Swing and husband, Kim, of Lexington; grandchildren, Ashley Swing Burkhart and husband, Jason, John W. Swing, Sydney Leonard, all of Lexington, Caleb Tongel and Bethany Tongel, both of Southmont; great-grandchildren, Marissa Burkhart, London Wyatt, Addison Wyatt and Thor Darnell; and brothers, Steve Thompson and wife, Marilyn, and Lindsay Louya, all of Lexington.
The family would like to thank the staff of Forsyth Medical center for all the love extended to Mrs. Cross and her family.
