Joanna Adele Holston, 53, of Forsyth County, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
Born on October 26, 1972, in Forsyth County, Joanna was the daughter of the late John Robert Holston and Jean Shelbia Taylor Holston. She spent her life in the community she called home while also embracing the open road that became such an important part of her life.
Joanna was known for her adventurous spirit, her passion for motorcycles, and her love of driving trucks. She spent more than 20 years as a professional truck driver, traveling across the country, experiencing new places, and forming lasting friendships along the way. Her career was more than a profession—it was a way of life that reflected her independent nature and love for adventure.
Her passion for motorcycles and mechanics led her to earn a degree in Motorcycle Science from Forsyth Technical Community College. She later returned to her alma mater as an instructor, where she shared her knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm with future generations of riders and technicians.
Joanna also had a lifelong fascination with science fiction. She especially enjoyed Star Wars and was always eager to discuss stories and conspiracies surrounding Bigfoot and extraterrestrials. Her interests, combined with her outgoing personality and unique sense of humor, made her unforgettable to those who knew and loved her.
Joanna is preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Kerstyn Holston; her sister, Mary Brown; Kerstyn's mother, Gracie Roberts Holston; her lifelong childhood friend, Shannon Moore; and many extended family members and cherished friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Joanna's life will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Davidson Funeral Home of Winston-Salem Chapel starting at 4 pm. Visitation with the family will begin at 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service.
