Joanne Hanes Leonard

Joanne Hanes Leonard 63 went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 with husband and children, grandchildren, family and friends by her side. The funeral will be at 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Center United Methodist Church by Rev. Dr. Stephen Pillsbury and Rev. Ken Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the church and other times at the home. Joanne was born September 1, 1951 in Davidson County to Shady Hanes and Wilma Walser Hanes. She was preceded in death by her parents. She was retired from AT&T and was a member of Center United Methodist Church and attended Union Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, James Doyle Leonard of the home; sons, Shannon Leonard (Michelle), Nicholas Leonard (Jodey); three grandsons, Hunter Leonard, Ryan Pundt and Remington Leonard; sisters, Frances Cole of Sycamore, Ohio, Darlyn Killian (Joe), Charlotte Massengill, Martha Stephens (Barry); brothers, Wesley Hanes (Linda), Baxter Hanes and fiancé Carolyn Clodfelter, Raeford Hanes all of Lexington. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
