Joe Vance Beck

Joe Vance Beck, 92, of Westerville, Ohio, formerly of East Old US Highway 64, Lexington, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016, after declining health of several years. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Hedrick’s Grove Reformed United Church of Christ with the Rev. William Sowers officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Joe was born March 10, 1924, in Davidson County, to Steve and Carrie Miller Beck. He served in the US Army during World War II from 1944 – 1947 and received the Purple Heart. He spent his career working at Tedder Farm Equipment Company where he was their chainsaw repairmen. He loved his garden and dogwoods, his dogs and cats, his trails and tractor and to tell a good joke! In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Beck Allen; brother, Woodrow Beck; sister, Mabel Beck Snyder; and infant great-grandson, Zachary. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 66 years Margie Frank Beck; son, Darrell Beck (Sheila) of Westerville, Ohio; grandchildren, Brooke Perkins(Justin) of Greensboro, Brandon Allen (Allison) of Cary, Courtney Coe (Joe) and Clay Beck (Tara) of Westerville, Ohio, Emily Cuccarese (Mike) of Boston, MA; great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Adalynn, Aidan, Natalie, Ivan, Maxwell and Grady; brothers, Ralph Beck and Dale Beck (Clara) of Lexington; and many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hedrick’s Grove Reformed United Church of Christ, 3840 Allred Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
