Joe Julius Berrier age 92 of Lexington passed away early Wednesday morning, April 24, 2013 at Alston Brook Nursing Home.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with the Rev. Karen Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
A visitation will be 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the funeral home.
Joe was born February 15, 1921 in Davidson County to Charlie Wesley and Jennie Hege Berrier. He was a retired truck driver for Flav-O-Rich Dairies and served in the US Army Air Force and served during WWII. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Men’s Bible Class as long as his health permitted. He enjoyed gardening, farming and raising beef cattle for many years after his retirement. Preceding him in death are his parents, brothers, Paul, Walter and Carl Berrier and sisters, Eliza Hartman, Ester Berrier and Dora Berrier.
Surviving are his wife of 63 yrs. Barbara Watson Berrier; sons, Terry Berrier of Arcadia, Durward “Dur” Berrier of San Diego,California, daughter, Sandra “Sandi” Layell (Trent) of Arcadia; grandchildren, Andrew Berrier, Elise Berrier, Austin Berrier, Allison Scott, Dylan Gammon and Ian Gammon; four great-grandchildren; Zachary, Elijah, David, Jasmine and several nieces and nephews and special daughter, Dedy Berrier.
