Joe Earl Biesecker, 77, died suddenly Sunday, December 6, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem following a tragic accident.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, December 11, at First United Methodist Church by the Revs. Jamie Armstrong and Doug Rowe. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
Mr. Biesecker was born December 30, 1937, in Lexington to E. Ray Biesecker and Tempie Everhart Biesecker. He was a 1956 graduate of Lexington High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After his military service, he graduated from Catawba College and Wake Forest University School of Law. He began his legal career with Duke Power Company before returning to Lexington in 1970 to practice law with Lee Wilson. He continued to serve as Senior Partner with the firm, now Biesecker, Tripp, Sink and Fritts.
He was an active member of First United Methodist Church and served as Davidson County Attorney and as chairman of the Lexington ABC Board. He also served on the Board of Directors for NC Railroad under Gov. Holshouser and chaired the NC Highway Safety Commission under Gov. Martin. He was admitted before all the state and federal courts in North Carolina and before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Joe was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Gail Woosley Biesecker of the home; his daughter, Wendy McNeill and husband, Greg, of Orlando, FL; his son, Eric Biesecker and wife, Stephanie, of Greensboro; his sisters, Doris Stimson and husband, Dick, and Patsy Grubb and husband, Wayne; his brother, Charles Biesecker and wife, Amelia; sister-in-law, Margaret Biesecker; brother-in-law Dwight Leonard and wife Denise; and his grandchildren, Dillon McNeill, Cameron McNeill, Taylor McNeill, Samuel Biesecker, and John Biesecker. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Sidney, David, and Don Biesecker, and his sisters, Betty Leonard and Martha Jones. His family will miss him tremendously.
