Joe Ralph Brinkley, 81, of Lexington, NC, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010. He was born in Davidson County, NC on July 17, 1929 to Fernando Lee and Jennie Hinkle Brinkley. Joe was a faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church. He was a retired brick mason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers Roy, Renza, Walter, and Baxter Brinkley; one sister Lala Byerly; brother-in-law Neil Byerly; and daughter-in-law Pamela Key Brinkley. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Bettye Craver Brinkley; four sons, Joey Brinkley (Sheila), Kevin Brinkley, Renon Brinkley (Angie), and Tera Brinkley (Pam) all of Lexington, NC; and two daughters, Myra Hutchens (Ken) of Lewisville, NC, Kyrun Martin (Virgil) of Lexington, NC; seven grandchildren: Amber Joyce, Timothy Brinkley, Amanda Tapler, Matthew Brinkley, Candance Hill, Kayla Brinkley, and Jamee Hutchens; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Webb Brinkley (Alice); three sisters, Ethel Crowell, Thelma Daniels, and Elsie Fritts (Paul). A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Harris, Dr. Harold Fletcher, and Rev. T. W. Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, January 3, 2011 at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the 6th and 8th floor staff of Forsyth Medical Center, Dr. James Dilley, and Lexington Dialysis Center for the care they gave Mr. Brinkley.
