Joe Dean Davis

Joe Dean Davis age 85 passed away Tuesday evening, February 26, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 1, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Welcome with Rev. Mark Blair officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Davidson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel. Mr. Davis was born in Davidson County on July 11, 1927 to Evie Lee Davis and Nora Crotts Davis. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Welcome, a former deacon and lifelong member of the choir, served in the US Navy during WWII as 3rd Class Petty Officer and retired from Tyco. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Doris Sowers Davis who died in 2011, a brother Gilbert Davis and a sister Belva Lea White. Surviving are one daughter, Diane Davis Carrick and husband Craig of Welcome; two brothers, Bill Davis and wife Betty of Welcome, Bob Davis and wife Joretta of Midway; two grandchildren, Shannon Carrick Smith (Zack) and Brad Carrick, Special neighbors and best friends Bill and Chris Darnell.
