Joe Louis Foltz, age 83, of Hampton Road passed away Friday morning (3-9-2012) at his residence after an extended illness. A funeral service will be held on Monday March 12, 2012 at 2:00pm at Reedy Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Egbert Craver officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday (3-11-2012) at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel and other times at the home of the daughter Sharon Hill, 3523 Lawrence Street, Clemmons, N.C. Joe was born January 21, 1929 in Davidson County to Clyde Clifford Foltz and Lillian Augusta Foltz. He was a retired machinist at Lacy Miller Machine Co. Joe was a charter member at Reedy Creek Baptist church being a Sunday school superintendent, teacher, deacon, and instrumental in the building of the first church. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his son, Dean Louis Foltz; and his son-in-law, James (Gene) Wilson. Surviving are his wife, Mary Dean Hicks Foltz of the home; three daughters, Sharon Hill with C. Robin Dean of Clemmons; Kathy Wilson of Clemmons; and Paula Cochran and John Cochran of Hillsborough; brother Mat Foltz and wife Alice of Lexington; sister, Ruby Mae Hartman of Lexington; five grandchildren, Dennis Lane Hill; Wendy Dawn Sechrist; Jeanette Elaine Craver; Christopher Joe Wilson; and Elizabeth Danielle Cochran; as well as four great grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to Hospice and Palliative Care of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, N.C. 27103. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
