Joe William (Mater) Hancock, age 53, of Hampton Street, Lexington passed away Saturday night (Oct. 29, 2011) at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday (Nov. 2, 2011) at the Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with Rev. Michael Louia officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday night and at other times at the home.
Joe was born in Davidson County, March 25, 1958 to Thomas Jackson Hancock and Edith Mae Crowell Hancock. He was a former employee of Dixie Furniture for twenty five years and later worked with Smith Millworks. He was a member of Second Reformed United Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Carol Henderson and his brother, Larry Hancock.
Surviving are; his wife, Teresa Younts Hancock of the home; one daughter, Amanda Lambert and husband Cory of Winston Salem; two grandchildren, Reuben and Reagan Lambert.
