Joe Beck Hedrick, 81, of Lexington went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Holly Grove Lutheran Church with the Rev. Anna Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.
Mr. Hedrick was born in Davidson County on August 25, 1941, to Lawrence Edward Hedrick and Violette Mae Beck Hedrick. He was retired from the Davidson County Schools Maintenance Department as a brick mason and was lovingly referred to as "Big Joe". Being a 3rd generation brick mason, his grandfather and father schooled him in the art of masonry. Just like his father, Joe was a "Jack of All Trades", he could fix anything and was always willing to help those in need. He was an active member of Holly Grove Lutheran Church, serving on the Cemetery Committee and enjoyed fellowship serving alongside with his Lutheran brethren in the Lutheran Men in Mission. He was a graduate of the Central Davidson High School Class of 1959. Joe had a love for cars and enjoyed participating in cruise ins and car shows driving his red 1940 Chevy. Joe was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather whose memory will be cherished forevermore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Emilie Thomas Pierce; and a brother, Edward Kent (Eddie) Hedrick.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Bonnie Jo Wilson Hedrick; his two daughters, Jill Hedrick Hunt, and Caroline Hedrick Hedrick and husband Chodd; two grandchildren, Brandon Charles Hedrick, and Justin Lawrence Hedrick; a sister-in-law, Alice Hedrick (wife of the late Eddie Hedrick); a special aunt, Carol Varner, and numerous extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
