Joe Ragan

“I have had a wonderful life.” These were words frequently uttered by Joe Ragan. That life began on July 31, 1925 and became even more wonderful on January 30, 2010, when he joined the Church Triumphant. Joe Ragan, 84, formerly of Holiday Drive, died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Hinkle Hospice House. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, February 4, at Bethesda United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Dennis Marshall. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery with Military Rites. The family will receive friends in the Church Family Life Center immediately following the service. Mr. Ragan was born July 31, 1925, in Davidson County, to James Weaver Ragan and Maggie Nola Ledford Ragan. He was co owner of Ragan and Ragan Real Estate. He served in the U.S. Navy 23 years and also was a former employee of the Social Security Administration with 15 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Elese Mize Ragan; his brothers, James Ragan and Jack Ragan; and his sister, Muriel Jones. Surviving are sons, Joel A. Ragan and wife, Ann, of Pfafftown, and Timothy Ragan, and wife, Tonya, of Lexington; five grandchildren, Justin Ragan and wife, Jessica, PFC Jacob Ragan, Joshua Ragan, Conrad Ragan, and Clay Ragan; and great-grandson, Jackson Ragan.
