Joe Elmer Robertson

Joe Elmer Robertson, age 87 of Carolina Avenue, Lexington passed away Thursday evening (9-3-2009) at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday (9-8-2009) at East End Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Gainey and Rev. Jeffrey Purdue officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Joe was born in Dyer County, TN July 29, 1922 to Isaac Alonzo Robertson and Mamie Ann Wilkerson Robertson. He was a retired employee of Dixie Furniture and was a Lay minister and Evangelist. A member of East End Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife Anna Mallard Robertson, a sister Stella Yountz and a brother, George F. Robertson, Sr. Surviving are: wife Nellie Westbrook Robertson of the home; four daughters, Betty Carol Gainus, Pink Hill, NC, Bevelyn Robertson of Lexington, Sheila Watson Bartlett of Staley, NC, and Cindy Holshouser and husband Mark of Linwood; one son, Gary Robertson and wife Felisa of Mocksville; four grandchildren, Terry Gainus, Phillip Mauney and wife Karen, Candy and Sarah Holshouser; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Cody Mauney, Joey, Aaron and Ethan Geppa; ten step-grandchildren, fourteen step-grandchildren, and two step-great-great-grandchildren; three step-daughters, Carrie Ann Fulbright of Lexington, Gail Varner and husband Wade of Lexington, George Robertson, Jr. and wife Sandy of Moore, SC and Marie Franke and husband Ronald of Greenville, SC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday night at Davidson Funeral Home and at other times at the home on East Center Street Ext. Lexington.
