Joe Thompson

June 29, 1962 — January 7, 2025

With profound sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Joseph Allen Thompson on January 7, 2025. A cherished son, brother, father, and grandfather, Joe’s legacy of love, generosity, and music will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 25, 2025, in the Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.

Joe was a friend to many, a kind soul whose benevolence and radiant energy enriched countless lives. A passionate lover of music, Joe was a cornerstone of the local music scene and a constant source of inspiration, especially to his grandchildren, who have followed in his footsteps. Forever a proud Deadhead, Joe found joy in attending local gigs, karaoke nights, and festivals, spreading his trademark positivity wherever he went.

Professionally, Joe was a dedicated worker who retired as maintenance manager after 30 years of service at Forsyth Country Club. Even in retirement, his hands remained busy building decks, supporting local music venues, helping with festivals, and offering a helping hand to friends in need.

Joe’s absence leaves a void, but his memory fills our hearts with gratitude. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ray and Elsie Thompson, and his nephew, Benjamin Thompson.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Karie Thompson (Eric); grandsons Ian Bjorling, Jaxin Beriguete, and Luka Beriguete; his brother Dennis Thompson (Denise); three sisters, Patty Farrell, Connie Forcum, and Dawn Thompson; nephews Ryan Forcum (Megan) and Gray Forcum (Shawna); stepdaughter Jordan Sellers; and countless friends who were like family.

While his loss brings grief, it is important to remember the great memories he's created for so many people. Joe Thompson will be cherished and loved by all who crossed his path.

Memorials may be directed to BeLoved Asheville at 32 Old Charlotte Highway, Asheville, NC 28805.

Ephesians 4:32
