Joe Trexler

Joseph "Joe" Alexander Trexler Jr., 82, of N.C. Highway 47, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at Centerclair of Lexington. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Reformed United Church of Christ, where he was a member, by the Rev. Mike Hooper. Burial will be in Beck's Reformed Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3074. Mr. Trexler was born in Davidson County on March 1, 1924, to Joseph Alexander Trexler Sr. and Iola Tussey Trexler. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in World War II, a member of VFW Post 3074, American Legion Post 8, a charter member of Central Lions Club and a retired salesman with Pickett and Green clothing store, where he worked all of his life until the store closed. Surviving are his wife, Jeanne Moore Trexler of Lexington; two sons, J.A. "Ike" Trexler III and his wife, Judy, and Steven W. Trexler and his wife, Debbie, both of Lexington; one daughter, Marian T. Rose and her husband, David, of Greenville, S.C.; six grandchildren, Jennifer Comer, Wesley Trexler, Jeannie Rose, Ed Rose and his wife, Kelly, Mary Trexler and Wayne Trexler; two great-grandchildren, Sammy Comer and Addy Comer; and one sister, Nancy Hedrick and her husband, Charles M., of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington and other times at the home of a son, Ike Trexler, 355 Frontier Drive. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to First Reformed United Church of Christ, 104 E. Center St., Lexington, NC 27292.
