Joe Allen Walker, 89, of Sidney St, passed away Friday, September 23, 2022, peacefully at Hospice. A service will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 1:00 PM, at North Lexington Baptist church, 201 Mize Rd. Lexington, NC 27295, with Dr. Bob Floyd and Rev. Gavin Pratt officiating. At his request, there will be no public viewing. A committal service will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park, 1307 W. Old Hwy. 64 Lexington, NC 27295 Joe was born in Davidson County on March 31, 1933, to the late Paul Andrew Walker and Martha Leonard Walker and was a member of North Lexington Baptist Church. He proudly served as a Yeoman in the US Navy during the Korean War for four years, stationed at Little River, VA, an amphibious base, aboard LST 980 and APD Lloyd. Joe retired from the Winston-Salem Journal, having worked there for over thirty years. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved son, and only child, Dana Allen Walker; daughter-in-law, Tamara Moorefield Walker; beloved grandson, Phillip Walker; and sister, Dorothy Walker. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Rosalind Walker, of the home; granddaughter, Courtney Williams, and husband Brandon; great-grandchildren, Jada, Sophie, and Payton Williams; and granddaughter-in-law, Tori Walker He has now been reunited with his precious son, Dana and grandson, Phillip.
