Rufus LeRoy "Joe" Wallace, 70, of Jubilee Road, Linwood, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at Rowan Regional Hospital in Salisbury after several years of declining health.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill Memorial Park by Preacher Clyde Akers. Burial will follow.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of the daughter on Rowe Road.
Mr. Wallace was born May 13, 1941, in Darlington, S.C., to Claude and Louise Player Floyd. He was a retired self-employed electrician and attended New Testament Church. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his wife, Ronda Kiger Wallace of the home; sons James Wallace and wife Patricia of Lexington and Joseph "Joey" Wallace and wife Melanie of Aynor, S.C.; daughters Windy Berrier and husband Charles of Lexington and Teresa "Tink" Wallace and friend Bobbi of Charleston; stepsons David Battle and wife Amy of Lexington and Joseph McCoy of Ft. Benning, Ga.; stepdaughter Misty Ried and husband Ben of Tucson, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Danny Floyd of Southport; and a sister, Bobbi Osbourne of Charlotte.
