Joe Wayne Brinkley

Joe Wayne Brinkley, 72, of the Brian Center, formerly of Brinkley Drive, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at the Brian Center. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Rev. Jerry Potter. Mr. Brinkley was born in Davidson County to Lacy Orville Brinkley and Maggie Curry Brinkley. He was a retired upholsterer. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Gardner Brinkley of the home; two daughters of Lancaster, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Sue Dixon of Mebane; a stepson, Jimi Shockley of Burlington; a brother, Robert "Elwood" Brinkley and his wife, Dorothy, of Lexington; a sister, Edna Brinkley Clark of Thomasville; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and four stepgrandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.
