Joe Bill Young

Joe Bill Young, 92, of Lexington, passed away June 13, 2023, at his home in Lexington.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm Friday June 16 ,2023, at Hedrick’s Grove Reformed United Church of Christ where he was a member, with Pastor Josh Rau and Rev. William Sowers officiating the service, burial will follow in the church cemetery with masonic graveside rites. The family will see friends one hour before the service in the church fellowship hall.

Joe was born August 23, 1930, in Davidson County, to John Henry Young and Martha Alice Beck Young. Joe was a devoted member of the church and the men’s brotherhood, having served as past president of the consistory. He was a member of Lexington Memorial Lodge #473, Greensboro Scottish Rites, Lexington Shrine Club, and the Oasis Shrine Temple in Charlotte. Joe was a lifelong lumberman. He was a founding partner in Y & Y Hardwoods and Liberty Dry Kilns up to his retirement. Joe was a veteran having served in the US Air Force.  His passion was his family, faith, church and especially his grandchildren. Joe was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, who will be missed by all. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Bob Young, brothers, Clyde Young, Everette Young, Dallas Young, Jack Young, John Hoyle and Gilbert Young, his sister, Ellaveigh Hedrick.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife Joyce Snider Young of the home, his son, Mark Young and wife Donna of Danville, VA, his daughter, Lisa Younts and husband Doug of Lexington, Grandchildren, Megan Younts, and Jacob Younts and wife Katelyn all of Lexington.
