Joel Lynn Johnson, 73, of Lexington went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.
Mr. Johnson was born in Davidson County on October 27, 1947 to Rob Roy Johnson and Maggie Hedrick Johnson. He was a retired product engineer, having worked for Thomasville Furniture. Mr. Johnson was an avid deer hunter and outdoorsman and enjoyed playing pool with his best friend/son-in-law, Marc nearly every day. He had a passion for animals, especially his K-9 companions, Sig, Maggie, Skyler, Raven, and Kimber and his horses, Storm and Shiloh. Mr. Johnson was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather whose memory will be cherished forevermore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robbie Clayton Johnson; a brother, Ronald Johnson; and two sisters, Annie Cooper, and Bobbie Dockery.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Mary Hickman Johnson; a daughter, Lynn Murphy (Marc); two sons, Kevin “JJ” Johnson and Skipper Johnson (Lisa); a daughter-in-law, Mitzi Lanning Johnson; two brothers, Garry Daniel Johnson (Nancy), and Charles Hickman; three grandchildren, CJ Johnson (Angela), Drew Murphy, and Kaden Joel Murphy; two great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Johnson, and Noah Johnson; and a dear friend and Pastor, Clyde Akers.
