Joel Wesley Lamar, 67, of Fritts Road, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at his home.   The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2012, at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with Karen Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at their respective homes.   Mr. Lamar was born February 6, 1944, in New Hanover County, to Jesse Leroy Lamar and Lizzie Fritts Lamar. He earned his welding certificate from Davidson County Community College and was a Welder for Morton Metalcraft in Welcome. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda VonCannon Lamar; son, Jason Lamar; and grandchild, Kirt Blair.   Surviving are son, Jerry Wesley Lamar and Mark Brendan Lamar and wife, Donna, all of Thomasville; daughters, Kathy Blair and husband, Mark, of Silver Valley, and Judy Vaughn and husband, David, of Wallburg; grandchildren, Jessica Blair, Justin Vaughn, Travis Vaughn, and Eli Lamar; and brother, Ronald Lamar and wife, Shirley, of Lexington.   Memorials may be made to Tabernacle UMC Cemetery Fund, 213 Tabernacle Church Road Ext, Trinity, NC 27370.     Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
