John Andrew Fowler

John Andrew Fowler, age 84, of Robert Hargrave Rd., of Southmont passed away Tuesday (December 27, 2011) in Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday (December 31, 2011) at Macedonia United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Blanton and Rev. Dane Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.   The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday   John was born in Rockingham County, NC November 03, 1927 to Marvin Shelley Fowler and Ora Villa Glasgow Fowler. He was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church; United Methodist Men and received the Laity Service Award in 2009 from the Western NC Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was retired employee of The Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, DC; an avid golfer; member of the Southmont Lions Club and was a Melvin Jones Fellow of Lions International. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Matilda Jean Gardner Fowler, on February 24, 2006 and a brother Marvin Fowler.   Surviving are; his daughters, Linda Jordan and husband Ray of High Point, Frances Moore and husband Ronald of Climax; grandchildren, Rev. Dane Jordan and wife Amy of Indian Trail, NC; Kory Cecil Williford and husband Allen of Raleigh, NC, Casey Cecil and wife Erin of Raleigh, NC; Curtis Cecil of Charlotte, NC; J.R. Cecil and wife Seresa of Elon, NC, Hannah Cecil Rice and husband Brandon of Cummings, GA;  great-grandchildren, Alexis Jordan, Olivia Jordan and C.J. Williford, Rylee Williford, Kaeli Williford, Ainsley Cecil, Brayden Rice and Brody Rice; a sister, Elizabeth Gardner of Chester, VA; a brother, Charles Fowler of Roanoke Rapids, NC   Memorials may be made to Macedonia United Methodist Church, Building Fund, P O Box 190, Southmont, NC  27351.   Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
