John Norman Beck

John Norman Beck, 94, of Becks Nursery Road, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at his home. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Hedricks Grove United Church of Christ Cemetery, with the Rev. William Sowers officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church fellowship hall. Mr. Beck was born October 3, 1916, in Davidson County, to Zeb Norman Beck and Etta Young Beck. He was retired from Conrad Hill Feed and Seed and a member of Hedricks Grove United Church of Christ. Mr. Beck was an avid gardener enjoying his garden of tomatoes and squash, that he shared with his family, friends and neighbors. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Flossie Lucille Overman Beck; and a grandson, Michael Cooper. Surviving are son, Johnny L. Beck and wife, Debbie, of Southmont; daughters, Gail Hilton and husband, David, and Rose Poole and husband, Jerry, all of Lexington; grandchildren, David Beck and wife, Jennifer, Steve Cooper and wife, Diane, Susan Medlin and husband, Guy, Chris Poole, Joie Parks; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sisters, Helen Welch and Thama Snider, both of Lexington.
