John Robert Brooks

John Robert Brooks, Jr., age 76 of Lake Shore Avenue, Lexington passed away Tuesday morning at Hinkle Hospice House. A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm Friday at Westminister Gardens Cemetery in Greensboro with Dr. Robert Floyd officiating and burial will follow. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday. John was born in Guilford County June 13, 1937 to John Robert Brooks and Ada May Throckmorton Brooks. He was a retired route supervisor with Carolina By-Products and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathleen McMillian; brothers, Anderson Calvin Brooks and Jerry Wayne Brooks. Surviving are his wife, Ina Latham Brooks of the home; son, Robert Wayne Brooks of the home; daughters, Linda Presnell (Kenny) of Banner Elk, Brenda Rangel (Hector) of Boone and Wendy Hankeison (Gregory) of Greensboro; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; sisters, Irene Saferight and Carolyn Gregory both of Climax; brother, Charles Ray Brooks of Greensboro.
