John Henderson Conrad

December 28, 1931 — July 21, 2010

John Henderson Conrad, age 78 of Hedrick Mill Road, Lexington passed away Wednesday morning at Forsyth Medical Center. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2010, at Holly Grove Lutheran Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. John Mocko officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel and other times at the home. Mr. Conrad was born December 28, 1931, in Davidson County, to Adam Efird Conrad and Ada Byerly Conrad. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, a member of VFW Post 3074, American Legion Post 8, Amvet Post 13, and was owner/operator of Conrad Tire and Automotive in Thomasville. Mr. Conrad also served as past President of D.T. Lions Club. At his church he was a member of the choir, Lutheran Men, financial secretary and a current member of the church council. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, James Conrad, J.B. Conrad, Simon Conrad, Avery Conrad, Cromer Conrad and Clyde Conrad; and sisters, Thelma Younts, Edith Fritts and Marcella Kennedy. Surviving are his wife, Minnie Hedrick Conrad of the home; sons, Micky Conrad and wife, Carol, of Lexington and Todd Conrad of Charlotte; daughter, Kim Troutman and husband, Bob, of Lexington; four grandchildren, Brandon Conrad and wife, Brandy, Kara Pearson and husband, Chris, Elisa Somer and husband, Ross, Meagan Carroll, Shawn Greene and husband, Jim, Nicole Bernardo and husband, Anthony, and Korri Troutman; great-grandchildren, Roseila, Jordan, Austin, Ballard, Elijah, and Jack Robert; brothers, Paul Conrad and wife, Carolina, and Carl Conrad and wife, Etta Lee, all of Lexington; and sister, Betty Roberts and husband, Bill. Memorials may be made to Holly Grove Lutheran Church, 212 Holly Grove Lutheran Church Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
