John Lathan “Jack” Daubenmeyer, 86, formerly of Haden Grove Church Road, died Thursday, November 27, 2008, at the home of his granddaughter on Catlin Lane.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2008 at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. Max Shoaf officiating and burial will follow with graveside military honors by Randolph County Honor Guard.
Mr. Daubenmeyer was born September 18, 1922, in Edgecomb County, to Lester Daubenmeyer and Lena Bell Daubenmeyer. He was a retired truck driver from Hastings Auto Parts. He also served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Amvets Post 13, American Legion, Spencer Moose Lodge 2019 and Spencer Masonic Lodge. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Cope Daubenmeyer; a brother; and two sisters.
Mr. Daubenmeyer is survived by daughters, Gwen Leonard and husband Grady of Lexington, and Wanda King and husband, Darrin, of Spruce Pine; four grandchildren, Nikki Beck, Renee Baynard and husband Michael, Brittney King and Brandon King; five great grandchildren, Michael Baynard, Casey Beck, Lathan Baynard, Bree Craver and Mason Baynard; a brother, Nelson Daubenmeyer and wife, Ruby, of Kernersville; and a special nephew Pete Cope and wife, Kathy, of Lexington.
The family will see friends from 11:30 to 12:30 Monday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel and other times at the residence on Catlin Lane.
