John David Younts, 81, of Welcome-Bethesda Road, Lexington died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, September 18, 2015 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington and other times at the home.
Mr. Younts was born June 6, 1934 in Davidson County to Alfred Younts and Clara Kepley Younts. He was a retired employee from Strohs Brewrey Power Plant as an Operator. A member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, he was also a member of Mason Lexington Memorial Lodge 473, Charlotte Oasis Shrine and Eastern Star. J.D. was a US Army Veteran. Preceding him in death was his parents, and a son, David Bradley Younts, May 11, 2009.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Shirley Hinkle Younts of the home; a sister, Joyce Jones of Lexington and a sister-in-law, Ruth Dobey of Welcome; two nieces, Rita Gebe (Jack) of Lexington, Stacy Wilson of Concord.
