John Lawrence DeLapp, age 88 of N. NC Highway 150, Lexington passed into the more immediate presence of his Lord and Savior Friday evening, September 28, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Good Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Good Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary from 1:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the service and at other times at the home of Robert and Suzanne.
John was born in Davidson County, January 30, 1924 to Lawrence Walter DeLapp and Daisy Zimmerman DeLapp. He was a lifelong member of Good Hope United Methodist Church and served in many capacities on the local and district level. John was a retired employee of Pepsi where he worked in sales for 33 years. He grew up on a dairy farm and continued to operate it his entire life. His pride and joy was the farm, where he operated a cleaning and seed business for many years and the farm later became a Centennial Farm in 1996. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and sharing life’s stories and lessons. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 56 years, Margaret Myers DeLapp, on August 26, 2008; sisters, Maggie DeLapp Hege, Rose DeLapp Hedrick, Mary DeLapp Kimel, Diana DeLapp Hege and Alice DeLapp; brothers, Joe and Albert DeLapp.
Surviving are his two sons; Robert DeLapp and wife Suzanne and John DeLapp and his children; Jonathan, Liz and Abbey DeLapp all of Lexington; many loving nieces and nephews.
