John Louis Diehl age 82 of Welcome passed away Friday, October 5, 2012 at Lexington Health Care. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Diehl residence of 1861 Welcome Arcadia Road Lexington NC 27295 with Rev. Dennis Marshall officiating. John was born March 9, 1930 in Kings County, NY to Anna Eicker. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Marines during the Korean War and was a member of the Board of Education with Manhattan, NY School System. He enjoyed collecting stamps and woodworking. He is preceded in death by his mother. Surviving are his wife Carole Lightfoot Diehl of the home, a son; Wesley John Diehl of Washington, DC, his daughters; Denise Serial of Tucson, AZ, Pat Picarello of New Jersey and Laura Diehl of New Jersey; a sister, Dorothy Kassavan of Gainesville, FL. and four grandchildren. In lieu of flowers send memorials to Bethesda United Methodist Church – 2922 Bethesda Road, Lexington, NC 27295. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
